Living in Bailey,
Colorado
Born in Montana, Andi received
her education at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design
where her interest in sculpture first developed. She has
always been drawn to the dynamic contours of the human form
and its reflection of the inner person. The mystery of the
human nature, in all its complexity, continues to inspire
her.
Andi loves to travel and finds in other cultures rich
varieties in the human pageant. Andi prefers to sculpt on
location where she can connect directly with her subject
matter. Finding resonance in simple scenes, like a mother
bathing her child in a mountain stream, or the pathos if an
old man staring sadly into space, she creates by looking
into the heart of the human experience and shaping what she
perceives. As she sculpts, she is for spontaneity and
depth, trying to capture the essential feeling of the
moment. When she finishes a piece she hopes she has created
something that will evoke an emotional response from the
viewer, something triggered by his or her own personal
experience.
“The human form contains such mystery, such strength
and weakness, sorrow and joy. It embodies so many changes
as it progresses through life. In my mind’s eye, I
look beyond the external to see what lies within.”
