Paulus Tjiang graduated from the Ontario College of Art in
1988, then continuing his fine art education at the
Pilchuck Glass School, with Lino Tagliapietra.
“I look to bring into glass work, intense color,
precise detail, and an elegant disposition, using mostly
Venetian techniques.”
Paulus shares his home and studio, “Frantic Farms
Clay” with his wife, Monica Johnston, a potter. The
couple also operate a Craft Gallery in nearby Warkworth.
“When I see glass moving, it is alive. Its soul
radiates within the emitting heat. A malevolent dance
partner in the studio, the glass eventually slows its
temporal chord to become my benign wise old friend in the
gallery.”
