Debora Wayne, a nationally recognized artist in glass,
creates unusual art, furniture, and accessories using a
mysterious blending of an ancient Egyptian and Italian art
form, coupled with futuristic glass made for the space
industry. Best known for her incredible use of color,
Debora begins her creative process by hand cutting and
multi-layering various colors and textures of art glass
creating a glass “sandwich” that is fired to
temperatures of up to 2000 degrees. The result of her
kiln-formed, fused glass is mesmerizing and almost alive in
its intensity. One museum called it “jewels for the
wall.” Creating custom work for residential,
commercial, and architectural applications, Debora creates
environments that inspire and affect people and space in a
positive way.
Debora Wayne has spent the last 17 years studying,
experimenting and working professionally as an artist in
ceramics and glass. Classically trained in ballet and
modern dance, Debora studied with Merce Cunningham and many
others and danced professionally in New York. A dedicated
practitioner of Yoga, she has also guided many others along
a mysterious path of movement and meditation and finds this
to be a great source of inspiration for her work in glass.
Debora’s art may be found in numerous private
collections, as well as in fine art galleries. Critics have
described her work as “rich, sophisticated, and
timelessly elegant.” To Debora, it is simply a visual
expression of her joyous spirit.
